Are You Ready? Yes, I'm Ready!

You're probably beyond ready!  My credibility is more than likely shot with all of you, but I appreciate you hanging with me and putting up with my procrastination.  I announced a couple of months ago that I would host a giveaway once I reached 100 followers.  That momentous occasion has come and gone.  But better late than never, right?  Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.  So....without further ado, let's get started.  I won't make you jump through many hoops.

To enter:
1.  Leave a comment on this post.

2.  For a second entry, mention the giveaway on your blog and leave me a comment that you did so.

3.  Give me a shout out on Facebook or Twitter and leave a comment here to tell me.

That means leave separate comments for each thing.  Easy as pie!  You have till 8am CST on Friday March 11 to enter!

Oh, wait!  Did you want to know what you'll win?  Guess that might give you some motivation, huh?  How about a $25 gift card to Bath and Body Works?  With a couple of surprises thrown in.

Good luck!

STYLISH BLOGGER AWARD

Thank you, Connie at Shady Creek Lane, for sharing this award with me!  What a pleasant surprise!  Connie and I have so many things in common, we think we may be sisters separated at birth. ;-)  She got the creative gene, though. Make sure you check out all her pretties!

These awards always come with a string attached and this one is no exception.  Here are the terms for accepting:

1-) Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award...

2-) Share 7 things about yourself...

3-) Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers... and

4-) Contact the blogger and tell them about the award...

Between the hops I've been doing lately and the 100 things about me post, I'm not sure there's much more to tell!  But I'll press on--because I know there are some out there whose day is not complete with a bit more trivia about moi.

1.  When my oldest granddaughter was about 7 months old, I dropped her.  We were sitting in Relief Society at church and my daughter was sitting behind me.  When Melody started climbing over my shoulder, I assumed (you know what THAT does) that my daughter was reaching for her.  Next thing we knew, Melody was on the floor screaming with blood coming from her mouth.  I scooped her up and ran out of the room, my daughter hot on my heels.  Don't know which of us was more upset.  Melody stopped crying before I did.  My other daughter Shana had to drive me home.

2.  Years ago, we only had one car and it was a stick shift.  I cannot drive a manual, but was home alone with four little kids and determined that I would learn.  Every morning, I'd put our oldest on the school bus, pile the 3 little ones in the van and drive up and down our country road trying to teach myself.  Needless to say, I still can't drive a stick.

3.  I cannot sing.  I love to sing and can remember the words to lots of songs.  I'd be great on that show "Don't Forget the Lyrics".  Unfortunately, I can't carry a tune in a bucket.

4.  I don't like to talk on the phone. Guess I spent so much time on it when I was in high school, that I used up my allotted minutes.

5.  Similarly, I love to sleep.  In high school, I rarely got more than 5 hrs a night.  Now I can easily sleep 9--and take a nap!

6.  I would like to own a used bookstore.  Or a nursery (plants, not kids).

7.  I like to write little notes to people.  Real snail mail type notes on pretty cards.  Getting something in the mail besides bills is always fun and I like to think I bring a smile to someone's face.

Wow!  That was hard. Don't want to tell you how long it took.  I'm supposed to pass this along to 15 new bloggers.  But I'm going to break the rules and award it to anyone who reads this.   (And Connie thought SHE was a slacker!)

Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. March 2nd is Dr. Seuss's birthday so I'm wondering...do you like green eggs and ham? Okay-how about this instead...how do you like your eggs? Or don't you?   As I've stated before--baked in a cake!  Okay, okay....scrambled.  With lots of salt.  Cuz eggs are gross!

2. Is March coming in like a lion or something less ferocious where you live?  Unfortunately, lamb.  It's chilly, but sunny and clear.  Drat!  Monday was stormy--bad stormy.  How come that couldn't have been March 1?

3. Do you work better or worse under pressure?  Not good under pressure--at all!  It's like PMS on steroids!  Not pretty.

4. March Madness-are you a fan? It's college basketball in case you're wondering. And if you're outside the USA tell us-is there any sort of 'madness' taking place during March in your part of the world?  That would be a big negatory.  No balls, no time, no how.  Well, meat balls.  And malted milk balls.  Gum balls.
5. Under what circumstances do you do your best thinking?  Usually in the shower.  No phones,  No TV.  No distractions.  Now ask how much of it I remember when I get out....

6. What item of clothing from your wardrobe do you wear most often?  If I'm home, my beloved yoga pants.  If I'm going out, jeans.

7. Do you use sarcasm?  Me? Of course not!

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Read this today HERE and thought it was hysterical.  Just had to steal share.  Thanks, Shawn!   'Figured out why I'm fat! The shampoo I use in the shower that runs down my body says "For extra volume and body". I'm going to start using "Dawn" dish soap. It says " Dissolves fat that is otherwise difficult to remove".'

Random Thoughts on a Tuesday

My brain has been working overtime lately, which in itself is a scary thought.  Here are a few things going through my mind....

Did you know clear fingernail polish will get rid of warts?  It's true.  I promise!

I'm starting to have hot flashes at night again.  Less severe and not as long lasting, but still.  I thought I was done with these things.  Where were they this winter when I was freezing??

Since I'm waking up during the night for one reason or another, I've noticed something else.  Every time I wake up, there's a song running through my head.  A different song every night, but the same song each time the same night.  Does anyone else do that?  Please say yes.

Isn't it interesting how random things remind us of certain people?  When I see a hair in the bathroom sink, I remember my favorite aunt.  She couldn't brush her teeth if there was a hair in the sink--she was afraid it would wind up in her mouth.  When I see a dead skunk in the middle of the road (good song!), I'm reminded of my daughter Shana.  She called them "stunks" and whenever we passed one that was quite aromatic, she'd say "that stunk stinks".  When I see watermelon dishes, I think of my friend who collects them.  Play the song "Dizzy" and I'm about 11 years old again, riding in the back of a pick up truck with my cousins singing at the top of our lungs.  Tulips, crinolines, Heath bars, Wind Song, chicken pot pies, chocolate covered cherries, the ice cream truck's music--all these things make me think of specific people.  How about you?  What reminds you of someone?
