Traveling into the Wednesday Hodgepodge-Vol 31

1. What is one thing on your bucket list? If you don't have a bucket list let's pretend you do.  I don't really have a bucket list, but if I did, visiting Alaska would be in the top five.

2. What makes a good dad?  someone with a listening ear, a big heart, a ready lap, and an understanding spirit

3. Are you afraid of insects? Which ones?  I don't like spiders and snakes...  Actually, I don't like many things that crawl--except babies!

4. We're barbecuing...what's on the grill at your house?  Pork chops!  My husband makes the best.  He could give Bobby Flay a run for his money--and he's just as cute, if you ask me!

5. Do you believe that playing is more important than winning?  Absolutely!  You gain so much just by being in the game--no matter the outcome.

6. Do you tan? Use self tanners? Visit tanning salons? See your dermatologist at least once a year?   No. Yes.  Used to.  No.  I love the way I look with a tan, but the worry isn't worth it.  I've found a self-tanner I really like and have used for a couple of years.

7. Five years ago I would never imagine that today I would_______________.   Still be trying to lose those same 5 lbs--only now it's 15!

I saw this question on Marla's facebook page and I thought it was perfect for the Hodgepodge. Everyone go say hi to Marla...she has an E-book launching this week.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Hooray!  The power went off in the middle of this post, but I didn't lose it.  I think I would have scrapped the whole thing had that happened!

Meet Me On Monday!!

Questions:

1.  What is your favorite yogurt flavor?  Strawberry!

2.  Ankle or knee socks? and on the same theme, white socks or coloured??  Got enough of knee socks in elementary school--so ankle socks or the no-shows.  White if I'm working out, coloured otherwise.

3.  How is the weather right now?  Hot!  Humid!  Miserable!

4.  Are you a fast typer?  Yep--and proud of it!  I taught myself on an old Royal manual my father brought home from the Army--that was back in elementary school.  I took typing class every year
from 7th grade on.

5.  Red or White Wine?  No wine.  Or whine.

My Week At A Glance 6

Cindy over at For One Another is hosting a blog hop and I'm joining in for the first time.
Hope you will, too.

The rules are simple.
1.  Write a post about your week, Anything you want! Or just link to your favorite post.
2.  Please copy and paste the Week At a Glance button to that post.
3.  Come here and  link up your post below.  Linky will be active from Saturday - Tuesday!

This week was pretty slow and boring.  It's just plain old too hot to do much outside.  Temps in the mid to high 90s every day with lots of humidity, but no rain in sight.  My daughter Holly and her son Alexander are living with us for the time being--anybody in my area who knows of a job and/or place to live, let me know ;-).  We spent one afternoon at the local library.  We have an awesome library here--never seen one like it.  The children's area is so great.  There are puzzles, books, toys, etc.  You can go and stay as long as you like--and, best of all, you don't have to be quiet!  They also have a really good summer program.

I've started walking MWF mornings with a friend.  We walk 3 miles in about an hour.  Yesterday we did it in 55 minutes!  Progress.  I've also been trying to walk in the evenings with a couple of friends from high school.  We manage 1.5 miles in a half hour.  Didn't get there this week, though.  Six in the evening is a difficult time with a 4-year-old in the house.

Our little raised garden is growing--despite the fact that we don't really know what we're doing.  Cucumbers, bush beans, and strawberries.  Not too much to mess up there.

Maters in a pot

Strawberries in a pot

Cucumbers and bush beans
 See, we really have beans!
Peaches!

Can you see our blueberry bush--I'll be making muffins before you know it!
(hint: it's the little stick to the right of the red stick--which is actually weed trimmer line)

Found Alexander a bed at a yard sale--$35

Was given this lovely piece by a friend.  Plans are to paint the bottom black like my desk and use it in my office.  Stay tuned!

I know I did more than this, but my mind is a blank.  Told you it was boring.

Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun Blog Hop!

Welcome to the 15h weekly Follow Friday Four Fill-in Fun Blog Hop!
From the new home….http://feelingbeachie.com

This week’s statements

1.      When I reflect back upon my life, I regret having my kids so close together.  It was hard physically and mentally.  Plus expensive--especially when they were in high school and then started driving.  And no one told me they'd all leave home about the same time!

2.      I over use the word crap.  It's a bad habit and one I need to stop.  Anybody got any ideas for a replacement?  Keep it clean! ;-)

3.      The first time I saw the beach/mountains was when I was ....I actually don't remember about the mountains because we used to travel over the Smokies from TN to NC on vacation from the time I was little.  I first saw the ocean when I was 7--Myrtle Beach, SC!  (Okay, okay, I put NC the first time--force of habit--we lived in NC for about 13 yrs!)

4.     My friend Kris reminds me of the color yellow, because she doesn't like it much!
