Yikes!

Now that all the "paperwork" has been accomplished, I can let you all in on the secret I've been keeping for the past six weeks or so. I've been called as our stake's Primary president! Gulp! Double gulp!

Primary is our church's organization for children ages 18 months to 11 years. Upon reaching their 12th birthday, they graduate into our youth program. A stake is a local area made up of several wards and branches. In our stake, we have 12 such units. I'm still a little shell-shocked and don't even know how many children we're talking about here. We've lived in Tennessee since 1994 and I haven't served in Primary in all that time. And have never served in a Primary presidency. Look at it this way: the last time I taught Primary, my children were in the program--now I have grandchildren in the program! To say I have no idea what I'm doing or what is expected of me is a major understatement!

If you're a praying woman, keep me in your prayers. If you're not, then just keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for me! The next few years should be interesting....

Yikes is right. I understand your uncertainty, I'm sure you will do a great job. My friend is our Stake Primary president and she really enjoys it. To be honest with you, I have served in numerous stake callings and have found them to be easier than ward callings.
I will keep you in my prayers as you begin this journey, but seriously you will come to love this calling

Til next time,
Connie
