Meet Me On Monday

Welcome to the 33rd edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Linking up with Java once again.  I must admit to loving these questions and finding new blogs!  My list of blogs I follow grows every week!
Questions:

1.  What do you put on your hot dog?
If it's boiled, chili.  If it's grilled, good ole ketchup.

2.  Do you play Sudoku?
I can't even pronounce the name, much less play the game!  Besides, it involves numbers.  Numbers are not my friends!

3.  What is your favorite vegetable?
Potatoes!  There's not much you can do to mess up a potato!

4.  Do you color your hair?
You better believe it, baby!  Since I was 30--and we won't talk about how long ago that was.

5.  What is your favorite brand of clothing?
Don't really have one.  Fit is the important thing.  I do love me some Lee Riders though.

Outside My Window

This is what we woke up to this morning:

Super Questions for the Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. Will you watch the Super Bowl? If so who will you root for? If you are outside the USA what is the 'big deal sporting event' in your own country?    I'll be watching under duress.  Not much of a football fan.  I try to be, but it just takes too long--I can make it to halftime, then my attention starts to wander.  Hubby is a Steelers fan, so I'll be rooting for them.  The Steelers are playing, aren't they?  Maybe I should check...

2. Is ignorance bliss?  Sometimes.  What you don't know won't hurt you, right?  Until it jumps up and bites you on the butt.

3. Which of the seven dwarfs are you? (and just in case your Disney is a little bit rusty, here they are-Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy)  Can I say D: All of the above?  Depends on the day and what's going on.  If I have to choose, I'm going with Bashful.

4. When you are riding in the car with another couple how do you organize the seating? (Men up front? Women up front? Couples sit together?) And thanks to Lori at Mountain Woman at Heart for the question! Everyone go say hi to Lori.  Usually guys in front, gals in back.  Except with one couple--they insist on riding together, which makes for difficult conversations.

5. What is beauty?  You know, that girl in love with the Beast!

6. If someone asks you to bring an appetizer or a dessert to a party in their home, which would you choose?  Dessert!  Usually easier and I subscribe to the Sandra Lee way of thinking.  It's easy to pick up something, transfer it to your own plate, and doctor it up a bit to make it "homemade".

7. What is your crowd pleasing go-to appetizer?  Tequila Lime chicken wings from Sam's.  Not that I eat chicken wings.  Too much work for not enough satisfaction.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  Confession time:  I'm not going to college.  At least, not this semester.  Due to one thing or another, we just couldn't make it happen.  So I've set my sights on the fall!

Thank You Very Much!

Truly Simply Pink has blessed me with The Versatile Blogger award!  Thank you so much, Pinkim!   I appreciate that she thinks I have a blog worthy of this award.  Blogging has been good for me--though my husband might disagree--he thinks I spend too much time on the computer!

Here's the fine print:

Rules for accepting this award:
Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.
Tell us seven things about yourself.
Award 15 recently discovered new bloggers.
Contact these bloggers and let them know they've received the award.

1.  Spring is my favorite season.  I love seeing the earth come to life again after the bleakness of winter.  Love the various shades of green, flowers popping up, warm breezes, being able to have the windows open and air out the house after being closed up.  Spring motivates me more than January 1.

2.  I always seem to be a day late and a dollar short.  I'm just now discovering shows like The Closer, Law and Order, and NCIS.    This trend applies to most areas of my life.

3.  Don't like reality shows.  They seem so fake and embarrassing.  I've never watched Survivor, The Bachelor, or any of those real housewives shows.

4.  I am a procrastinator.  Especially if it's something I'm dreading or just don't want to do.  Right now, I should be cleaning house, but what am I doing instead?  Maybe my husband is right....

5.  I tend to have an addictive personality.   Once I discover something I like to do, I go overboard on it.  That's just one reason I've never taken up scrapbooking.

6.  Sometimes when I'm brushing my teeth, I find myself standing on one foot.  I won't even realize I've done it.  And occasionally I'll take a drink of water and forget to swallow.  A few minutes will pass before it occurs to me.

7.  I can be very competitive.  When my son and daughter in law broke some of my records on the Wii Fit, I worked and worked till I was back on top.

Wow, that was harder than I thought it would be.  Now for something even harder--choosing 15 blogs to pass this on to.  (Looks ilke I need to do more visiting.  Will get on that ASAP!  Look for more links in a bit.)

Meet Me On Monday

Welcome to the 32nd edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"

Well, here we are again--Monday and the chance to learn more random things about yours truly.  Are you keeping a little log of all these nifty tidbits?  It might be worth something someday...

Questions:

1.  What is your favorite kind of fudge?
Plain old chocolate--but it has to have pecans in it.  No walnuts, peanuts, etc.  Just chocolate and pecans.  (And that's pronounced pa-caans)

2.  Is there snow outside your window?  A little--we got several inches the other day, but most of it is gone now.

3.  What is your favorite meal of the day?  The one I eat in a restaurant!  Whatever time of day--if someone else is cooking it and cleaning it up, I'm a happy girl!

4.  Do you text on your cell phone?  No.  I have an older phone with several letters on one button.  Takes for. ev. er!

5.  Waffles or pancakes?   See #3.  As long as I'm not fixing them....

Love Is In The Air

Stealing this idea from Connie.  You remember Connie--she recently passed the 200 follower mark!  Thanks in part to some of you!

Anywho, she posted several of her all time favorite love songs and, since Valentine's Day is right around the corner, her songs put me in the mood to look up some of my own.  Hope you enjoy!

This is our official song

we do a mean rendition of this one!

poor quality, but the best i could find

Ice Ice Baby in the Wednesday Hodgepodge-Vol 10

1. Do you like your name? Were you named after someone? If you have children how did you settle on their names?     I love my name!  I was 9 before I knew another Beverly.  That suited me just fine.  You rarely come across someone named Beverly.  My middle name is after my maternal grandmother--someone I love dearly.  Our oldest daughter's name I found in a book when I was in 9th grade.  Decided on it then and hubby never even got a choice.  Daughter 2's name we picked out and then changed a couple of hours before she was born.  Her name is Holly and she was born in December.  Maybe it was the pain that made me do it.  Daughter 3's name came out of desperation.  We knew what we wanted her middle name to be and had to pick something that went well with that name.  I used to watch the credits after movies and TV shows trying to find something.  Finally decided on Lauren (hubby loves Lauren Hutton).  Son's middle name is Darrell after my husband.  First name is Clayton after my FIL.  That one was a no brainer.

2. How do you define success?  Being content with what you have.  Enjoying the here and now and not always wishing and waiting for tomorrow or next week or next year.

3. Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy?  Definitely Jeopardy!  That's my favorite show!  I will shush you if it's on!

4. If you could own any single object that you don't have now, what would that object be?   Land out in the country.  It doesn't have to be a lot.  Just 5 acres or so.  With a single story house.  My knees are getting too old for stairs.

5. What is something that inspires you?  Music.  It can change my mood in an instant.  It can bring back memories.  It can fill my spirit with joy.

6. Meatloaf-yea or nay? If its a yay how do you make yours?   Yes!  Don't make it often because Darrell doesn't like it.  While in Italy, we had a gas stove and the oven didn't work quite right.  Once I made meatloaf that was almost burned on the outside and raw in the middle.  Which we didn't discover till we bit into it.  That cured him of liking meatloaf.

 I also like this meatloaf:

7. Which is more admirable-the ability to organize and be methodical or the ability to adapt and make do?  Both have their qualities.  But I actually think being able to adapt is better.  Life always throws curve balls and those who can adjust are usually better off.

8. Insert your own random thought here.  I am tired of cold.  I am tired of clouds.  I am tired of rain.  But at least it's not snow!

The Crafty Pirate

Hey!  See that cute little button over there on the left?  The one with the pirate?  That's my daughter's new Etsy shop!!   She crochets sweet cloches, hats, and scarves.  (None of which she learned to do from me!)  Go check her out!

She also has a Facebook page and is promising to do a giveaway once she reaches 50 likes.  She only has 13 to go (as of 9am).  Please visit her on Facebook and like her.
That sounds sorta sad, but you know what I mean.

And I would be remiss in my maternal duties if I didn't mention that her pirate logo was designed by her brother and my son Clayton!
