Friday's Fave Five

I have discovered through Mary at Life in a Small Town a great linky party.  It's friday's fave five hosted by Susanne at Living to Tell the Story.  Today's my first time linking up--hope you enjoy!

1.  Flowers in the yard.  Three years ago, I planted 14 peony plants in my front yard not expecting all of them to come up.  They did--but never bloomed (well, one plant had one flower on it last year).  This year is a totally different story!  And my Knock Out Roses?  We didn't cut them back last fall and they are going nuts this year!  Not to mention my lovely orange azalea--finally coming out of its shell.  Here are a few pics:

2.  Unexpected Gifts.  Yesterday was my birthday.  I got a couple of things I didn't even know I wanted.  And a very special surprise from a dear friend!

3.  Sunshine.  Don't know if you've heard about all the flooding in the Nashville area, but it's been bad.  Two days of heavy rain produced about 12-15 inches of rain.  The mayor of Nashville predicts it'll take a billion dollars to recover!  Since Monday, we've had sunshine, beautiful blue skies, and soft breezes.  Love it.

4.  Skype.  Have you tried this wonderful way of communicating?  It's free, it's easy, and can make all the difference when your grandchildren live hundreds of miles away.  We have 3 in Louisiana and 3 in Georgia.  Being able to see and talk to them frequently has made the separation easier.

5.  Sleeping in my own bed.  After a two week vacation where we slept in no less than 8 different beds, my own bed and pillow are heaven on earth!

So, what are some of your favorite things from this week?  Link up with Susanne and share!

Sleeping in your own bed is way underrated. It always feels so great and you sleep so well that first night.

Thanks for the shout out! Hope you enjoy FFF; I think it's a great way to end the week.
Your flowers are beautiful...I'm so green with envy.
I know a couple of people who have been affected with the flooding. Glad y'all are okay; still praying for those affected.

Welcome to FFF! Oh, I do hope you're drying out there.

Your flowers are beautiful. And I hope you had a happy birthday. I'm going to have to look for that Jeremy and Mom book. Looks good.

Happy weekend!

Skype is great! We talk to our grandson who is 2400 miles away and he remembers our faces.

I am also thankful for SKYPE since my daughter and her family are moving to Zambia in 5 weeks. I know it will be a blessing.

Gorgeous flowers! You are blessed there, for sure!
