THIS is one reason I drink out of bottles!

I'm supposed to be cleaning house today--and I am, really--but my yard sale projects keep calling my name. The desk I bought recently is almost ready for its unveiling as a vanity. The mirror pictured below is one I bought for $5 at least three years ago. Since the vanity is about ready for use, it'll need a mirror. So of course I had to stop what I was doing, drag out everything, and give it a good coat of spray paint.

Here's the before:

Here's the during:

No after just yet. I'll save that for the big reveal in a couple of days. What--you may be asking--does all this have to do with drinking out of bottles?? Well, I'll tell ya. Most of you know of my intense deep love of Diet Mt Dew. It's indeed the nectar of the gods. I carry some with me almost everywhere and I prefer the 24 oz bottles. They don't get flat and I can keep up with my intake--which I really do try to limit.

In an effort to save a little money, we bought cans last time we were at Sam's Club. I took one outside with me as I spray painted. Upon finishing, I picked up my almost empty can, took a big gulp of the last swig, and felt something in my mouth that shouldn't have been there. Definitely NOT liquid. Upon spitting it out, this is what I found!! I know the pics aren't good, but this is a fly--and was still moving when I took these!!

My immediate response--after grabbing the camera--was to go open another can and wash that feeling out of my mouth! In case you're wondering, it did not taste like chicken!

Edited to add: The connection between drinking from bottles vs cans is that one can put the lid back on a bottle, thus thwarting critters from invading--and keeping the delicious bubbliness intact!

Ok, Beverly...that has to be the GROSSEST story I've heard in a while! I'm not sure it has anything to do, really with the "plastic vs. aluminum can" ordeal, but that is definitely a story you'll never forget! And I love that your first thought was to grab another one and rinse your mouth out...Sheila would've said it needed to be washed out w/ soap! ha ha ha...now that's an interesting combination...Dove & bug guts! yuck yuck YUCK!

Is that some sort of magic trick....haa haa So no taste test review...haa haa Ok I will stop.
Oh that is really bad. I am usually using a bottle or a plastic cup. Since I sit on my back deck a lot I use plastic cups and I can see if anything is flying in it or falls in it from the trees.

eeewwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am LOVING the mirror though.... I need to see the desk. In fact, if it looks anything like the mirror, I'm prety sure I need to HAVE the desk.
I'll send you my address via email. The UPS man is familiar with my home. Don't worry- it'll be in good hands. :)

Your project is looking great.

But, ooh, to the fly. I once found a dead fly in my salad at TGI Fridays. It just made me sick. They offered to bring me another salad, but I had lost my appetite.
