Happy Birthday

Today marks the 32nd birthday of my oldest daughter Shana. Most of you know we lost her in 2006. The past three years have been a rough road, but I think I may have finally turned a corner. While feeling a little melancholy this morning, I'm not sad and depressed like I've been in the past. I miss Shana so much sometimes I can hardly breathe. But today I'm going to be happy. Happy that she was with us as long as she was. Grateful for the time we had together. Grateful for the sweet spirit she brought to our family. Appreciation for the daughter, sister, aunt, and friend she was. Thankful for the love and fierce loyalty she gave to those closest to her.

In tribute to Shana, I want to share a few songs she loved or that meant something to the two of us. Hope you enjoy.

Happy Birthday to Shana!

I love the fact that she was a country music fan. YES!!
What a lovely tribute and an
expression of hope & healing for others who have experienced tragic loss. So glad you are feeling on top of things today. I think she would be happy knowing you are remembering her and enjoying the celebration of her life.

As I already told you early I am thinking of you today. My first thoughts this morning were of you and Shana and then I prayed for you to have strength to make it through the day.

I loved Shana for the sweet spirit that she had. She was a true friend to all who had the chance to get to know her. I was blessed a thousand times over just from knowing her. I gained strenght fro her testimoney that was there when I sometimes just wanted to give up.

Your family has always been a great blessing to me. You were there for me when life was hard. I will forever be thankful to our Father in Heaven for bringing all of you into my life. I hope that I have blessed you in some of the same ways.

I'm happy to hear that it's not so overwhelming for you anymore. I like to remember today more than the other day in April. Celebrate life, no matter how long it is. Happy birthday to Shana (I figure Nate took so long to get here because Shana was reluctant to let him go!).
