And Away We Go....

Day One:  We left Nashville headed for Denver.  Luckily, it was a nonstop flight of only about 2.5 hrs, because the toddler in the seat behind us was not having a good time!  He cried and fought most of the flight, including the entire last 20 minutes!  Ah, well, at least it wasn't the whole time.

Have you ever seen the Denver airport?  It is amazing!  Fortunately for you, I snapped a couple of pictures on our way to baggage claim.

Here it is from the outside:

After leaving the airport, we stopped at a Walmart to get some bottled water and snacks--you know, in case we got stuck in the mountains.  My husband is nothing if not prepared!  I wish I'd had my camera handy to take pictures of this Walmart.  First, it was beautiful.  No, really, it was.  Stone and wood everywhere--even the cart racks in the parking lot.  Second, it was honestly the biggest Wally World I have ever seen.  And I've seen a bunch!  I bet this thing was five acres!

After purchasing our necessities (including jelly beans--hey, I have my priorities!), we headed toward Cheyenne to spend the night.  It was dark when we arrived, so we didn't notice what was across the street from the hotel.  It didn't bother me much, because the Dramamine I took on the plane had kicked in and I was pretty much out cold.  But poor Darrell was up most of the night!

Can you see it?

A little closer....

Ahh, there it is!

Yep. Right. Across. The. Street.

Next stop:  Fort Laramie....

Thank goodness for Dramamine! ha! I'll be taking some next month when we'll be flying to Portland. I hate, hate, hate to fly, and hopefully the Dramamine will help take some of the edge off.

Have a great time!

Cool looking airport! CH & OS went out to Wyoming/Colorado last summer and had a blast! I want to go and just take in the beauty.

The Denver airport reminds me of the way Mall of America looks - sort of a like a huge balloon that could float away at any moment.

The Denver airport is very interesting. I suppose the train had a whistle? or horn?

I had no idea you came out this way! You could have stopped by my place, although I don't have a bed yet, so it probably wouldn't have been much of a help. It would have been nice to see you, though.
