A Partial Reveal and a Giveaway

Still not quite done, but I'm posting some pictures, so you can have your input into the most private room of my house--or would that be the bathroom?  Hmmm, I'll have to think about that one.  Anyway, here are a few befores, so you can understand what we're dealing with.

The ugly border, way too many frames, a lot of furniture, and--horror of horrors--curtains actually mounted on the window frame!  Save me, please!

And some afters--I told you, not a lot of difference since we didn't move the furniture around after all.  That may still happen--got to figure out the nightstand dilemma.  I do plan on rehanging the curtains so they'll frame the window and it'll look larger.  What do you think for a valance?  Try to match the gold or something different?  I also have European shams to put on the bed as soon as I get pillows.

Okay, here's where you come in--what to put above the bed?  I have a couple of ideas.  Remember the black and white pics of Italy in the befores?  They don't really match, but I love them.  What if I put some nailhead trim and gold rub and buff on the frames?  Sort of like this (courtesy of DIY Show Off):

Or I could do this from Let It Shine:

Or I could use this that I already have:

Whatcha think?  Or other ideas?  I'm open for just about anything.

Now for the good part!
A couple of months ago, I received an email from Purdy asking me to review some of their products.  After checking with someone in the know to make sure it was legit, I said Yes!  And immediately thought of all of you.  So I asked for a second set and got it and started planning for a fab giveaway!

Tell 'em what they'll win, Johnny...

The lucky winner will receive--courtesy of Purdy Professional Painting Tools (and made in the USA, I might add)--a Multi-Pack painting set.  Consists of a Purdy 9" roller and 2.5" angled brush.  Suitable for all paint types, exterior or interior.  I used these bad boys when I painted my bedroom and was amazed!  Now one of my least favorite things to do is clean out paintbrushes and rollers, so I tend to buy less expensive brands and just toss them after use.  Well, you know the old saying--you get what you pay for.  That includes bristle-shedding brushes and rollers that won't stay on the holder.  They also tend to gunk up and just are aggravating all the way around.  Not these Purdy products.  I honestly didn't expect to see much difference, but I was surprised.  And so was my husband.  The roller held lots of paint and applied it smoothly.  I attached a longer handle to the holder and was able to paint my entire room in a little over an hour (not including cutting in).  That's a record for me--the world's slowest painter!
The cutting in was easy with the angled brush--I didn't even tape anything off.  If you go slow and are careful, this paintbrush will do the job without tape.

But wait there's more:  the winner will also receive a $25 gift card to Hobby Lobby AND a $25 gift card to either Lowe's or Home Depot (you get to choose).

So--what do you need to do to win?  Simple.

1.  Leave a comment--hopefully with advice about the room--one entry.

2.  Become a follower and/or let me know you already are--one entry.

3.  Post about the giveaway on your blog and let me know you've done that--one entry.

See, couldn't be easier!  Giveaway will close at 5pm cst on Wednesday Nov 25th.

Good luck and thanks for playing!  Oh, and you don't have to have a blog to enter!

My suggestion is a mirror above the head of the bed. I like mirrors in rooms because it makes them feel bigger to me. I have a huge one hanging over our dining room table and it actually would go perfectly with the gold in your room. I'm sure there is a picture of it on my blog somewhere if you wanted to hunt it down.

I actually like the first one with the nailhead trim. Why not make one for yourself! Reframe your Italy pictures, add a nice ribbon for a hanger, and hang the pictures from the hooks! Would look smashing!

I like all the choices, but the third is my favorite. Also, you go blow up your three fav. pictures to like 8x10s and frame them in matching 16x20 frames with the center one slightly higher that the other two. I'm not very good at decorating, just thought if you wanted to incoporate your pictures...

I like the nailhead. Also, do you hav e good picture of all the children and Grandchildren? If so you might look into hanging that above your bed. I also agree with Alex that you could take those favorite pictures and reframe them.

I like the nailhead. It's kind of classic, but trendy, too. Not sure that I love what you already have (no offense)...I think it is just because I like the nailhead look so much.
Good luck!

I am totally a fan of having things around you that you love. So if you really love the pictures of Italy, hang them. I personally love the scroll, but it's your call- make a decision and live with it for a week or so, ifyou don't like that then move on to option #2..... love the paint color btw!

Beverly...I don't know why but I thought you had a wooden headboard...I think you need to strengthen your headboard...like hang up a long piece of burgundy moleskin or velvet up high behind your headboard and let it fall behind. Or you could paint the wall behind the headboard and up the wall...I like the look of the nail heads too...you could take the same fabric and make a long pillow for the top of your hope chest or as a throw at the foot of your bed....you can do anything with the photos as long as the frames are the same...hang them in a long line spaced evenly....can I see it in person the next time I'm there?

Love your room. It's a hard choice for over the bed without actually seeing them over the bed. They are all lovely though. Man, I would love to win your giveaway. And I would thank my friend Alex for sharing the opportunity.

Oh please enter me.

Okay, for above the bed, I'm in favor of some type of scroll work in black. I think that would look great.

I've become a follower after checking out your blog. It's wonderful.

Now, I'm heading over to my blog (DollsEtc.Blogspot.com) to post a link back here to let everyone know about your giveaway.

See, I have THREE rooms I need to repaint in my house and this brush set would really come in handy.

I think that you should use Shana's old headboard thing because it looks nice in there and it will remind you of her.

Hi! I was hunting for a recipe to use for after Thanksgiving. And Cheap- Chic had your web page. I am in the middle of finishing up my two rm. I am like you , what to use for a headboard. I saw one pic somewhere they painted a headboard onto the wall and used that. Have fun in your rm. I was on Romantic Home web site and she was teaching how to paint furniture. So I took my master bd rm and painted the antique dresser off white ( cream in your coffee color) what a difference it makes in my rm. So now I have my office to do. I am enjoying getting ideas from all of you gals! Thanks for some new ideas. please enter me in your contest. duenml@comcast.net Thank you

HELLO! The giveaway of all givaways! It was good seing you the other day and I am glad you are feeling better. The paint color you chose looks just like the one that I painted my house in September. I went the cheap route and found out about gunky rollers and had to redo a few things. I'll be looking for Purdy next time. No taping would be a lifesaver. I am NO good at decorating (I am very plain and boring) but here is a website that has advice about decor above beds. You can even ask her questions and she'll post for you about a month later. She did for me. http://www.designwithchristine.com/

I just became a follower- never done that before. I chose privately instead of public. Can you tell that I joined or not?

Not that you can see it, but I put a link on my blog. Ask Jackie! Does this count?
