No Joy in Mudville

We got our electric bill the other day and--are you sitting down?--it was $250. Now that's a lot considering it's just me and Darrell most of the time. And I don't cook much. I do like to stay warm, but we try to keep the thermostat set at about 68. All we can figure is the hot tub is using way more than its share of electricity. So we had to make the decision to pull the plug. Tomorrow we drain the hot tub. Sniff, sniff. Hang on while I get a tissue. I will certainly miss sitting out there in that blissful water, looking at stars, and watching planes. Guess I'll have to mollify myself by sitting in front of the gas logs.

Before you drain the tub, maybe just give it a break for a few weeks and check out your bill. Then you'll know for sure if it is causing the hike in price. I know how much you both love it.

We have to drain it since it's so cold. The water would freeze and we'd have a mess.

Haven't you been doing a lot more laundry lately? I know you have had family in etc? Also is your fireplace electric or gas?

Not that much extra laundry. And the fireplace is gas. If next month's bill doesn't show much improvement, we'll fill that bad boy back up!
