We Survived the Holidays!

For several years now, Darrell and I have hosted a post-Christmas open house. It's an adults only time to eat, visit, and recuperate from all the busyness of the past couple of months. We get a little flak for banning the kiddies, but we feel that children have so many activities and such all December and this is a chance for the grownups to have a little time to themselves. Being mom and dad is wonderful, but remember we're first and foremost husband and wife and need to keep that special relationship alive and well.

Anyway (not anyways), we had a smaller turnout than in years past, but still thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope all those who attended did, as well. How can you not with shrimp, cheese, crackers, chips and salsa, banana pudding, Red Velvet cake, cookies, Chex Mix, etc, etc. I'm stuffed to the gills!! I had set a weight loss goal for myself that I wanted to reach by Christmas Day. I succeeded, but have probably gained it all back in the past day or so. Oh, well. To quote my favorite heroine "tomorrow is another day".

I'm off to bed and thanks to FlyLady, my dishes are done and my kitchen is clean. I can sleep with a clear conscience tonight.

Off topic: Happy Birthday, Erin!!

Off topic x 2: Clayton has a secret, but won't share. Lauren has a secret, but it will come to light all too soon. If you'd like a hint, see her blog (which you can find a link to on the sidebar).

hmmmm, i wonder what clayton has up his sleeve? i bet i could guess but i'll wait and see if it's true. :) btw, with all your other proper grammar stuff, does it drive you nuts that i type in lowercase?? not that i'll really change it, just wondering. :)

typing in lowercase doesn't bother me, but since you brought it up--there's not an 'a' in 'tomorrow'. ;-)

funny you mention that. my brother is crazy like you about properness and he let me know about that when he visited. i have for the longest time thought i was spelling it correctly. spelling is usually one of my strong points but i don't know what happened with that. if you've noticed sometimes lately i have spelled it correctly but it's hard for me to remember that way b/c i've done it for sooo long but i have been trying! spell check is a tool i should use more often. usually i mispell b/c of typing fast and then go back and correct but tomorrow...it may take me awhile to break that habit just like erika and her 'anyways'...don't see that changing anytime soon even though you keep mentioning it, haha! :)

I think 'anyways' is a kid--er, young adult thing. I hear a lot of the younger ones saying it and I believe they really think that's how it's pronounced. I appreciate you not taking offense where none is intended. :-)

haha, yeah, i think you're right! oh yeah, not offended here...i think it's funny! :)

Our invite to the Post Christmas Party must have gotten lost in the mail.It sounds like you had a good time without us. Bah Humbug!

Your invite may well have gotten lost in the mail. If you read older posts, you'll know that my Christmas spirit was in short supply this year and I was late in getting the invitations printed and delivered. I'll make sure you get one next year--if you'll tell me who you are... 8-)
