Kindle. Nook. IPad. Tablet. Smart Phone. IPhone. Droid. Etc. Etc.
If you could pick one, which would you choose? And why?
Not that I'll be getting one anytime soon--I can't even upgrade my phone till June--but I'm so confused as to the advantages of one above the other. What do you have? Would you pick it again or choose something else?

I had the same internal debate you are now having. I checked into the ipad but you have to pay internet usage fees (similar to cell phone data plans) and I didn't want another bill. I'm not giving up my phone with internet. I just upgraded from a smart phone that wasn't smart at all to an iphone for the first time. I LOVE it. You can do pretty much anything. This is also the first time I've ever used a touch screen and didn't take me long to get used to it.
I thought about getting a kindle or Nook but decided I like buying used books so I probably wouldn't use it too much. Plus iphone and ipads have the app for either of those without having to buy the extra hardware.
Don't know if that's any help but my vote is for the iphone if you are ok with the small touch screen.
IPAD because it does everything that the others do except be a phone, which I don't need. I actually have a nook color and love it, but can only use the internet if I'm near available wi-fi. The IPAD works anywhere.
I've been wondering the same things myself so am aanxious to see the comments you get.
I have a very plain jane phone so I am no help there.
I do however, have a Kindle and LOVE
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
I wasn't sure about it at first but now that I have it I wouldn't go back. In fact I started reading a book my son loaned me recently and couldn't stand the inconvience of holding it to read. I downloaded it to my Kindle and am very satisfied.
The Kindle works off of your wireless from home to download books, newspapers, magazines etc. It will connect to wi-fi internet anywhere that you can access it (either using a password or someplace like McDonalds that offers free wi-fi). You do not have to be connected to the internet to read downloaded books. You can take it anywhere, I usually just stick it in my purse when I go somewhere. No more damaging books with extra wear and tear.
That is the extent of my techi knowledge. I would like to get an Ipad though someday.
I love, love my IPAD, it is awesome and if you have wireless internet in your home it will link right up to it, if not you can buy but it is very reasonable! I have kindle on my IPAD! It has everything except the phone. I do not know how I survived without it!
I want a kindle; CH is trying to talk me into a Droid Tablet. I think I'd rather have a Kindle. I just want something I can pull out when I have a couple of minutes and read. I think it would depend on what you want to use it for.
It is VERY confusing!
I still prefer a good old fashioned book with real pages. However, to save trees for future books, I have no idea which one I'd pick. I would probably have my SIL or Deanie's boytoy or Birdie's boytoy help me out---they are all very knowledgeable on these kinds of things.
My husband loves his IPhone. I don't know about any of the others as I stick to my laptop or the printed page.
Ipad.
I even take it to the bathroom with me; it's my best friend. Yes, it's pathetic but it's the truth. I've had it since August and it's worth every penny I paid for it. Also, anyone over 40 would probably agree that it's far better than an iphone because you can enlarge the fonts with the touch of a finger - great for older eyes (not that I would know).
I want both - a Nook and a Kindle. Both are WiFi, easy to manuever, and the Kindle comes in color. My husband would benefit greatly from one of these ereaders because he loves to read up on baseball. A lot of these websites have malware and virus'. The Kindle and Nook wouldn't cause any threats.
I'm not sure I want a Blackberry phone or even an iPhone. All I want to do is make calls, text, and take a picture. If I have to, I can use my iPod to check up on Facebook, email, or whatever (as long as it's in a WiFi free area) but I don't always carry that around and don't need to know what's going on in those sites all the time.
I'm also getting an iPad but for my son who is having sight issues from an accident. He's presently using his iPod which is better than the computer for him. There's a glare on the screen which makes it hard to focus.
The first thing you need to decide is what you want to accomplish with your device. I like only having one device, my phone, which has a kindle and google books, which I like better because it syncs with my computers and if I upgrade to another phone, my books are not lost. It plays music, pandora, espn radio, Atlanta braves games, internet, email, camera and fits in my pocket. though you may not want all that. I don't like apple because you have to use itunes which is not convenient for me since I have 4 computers and several MP3 players. The only bad thing is the size, so you may just need to bring glasses. If you have any more questions, you can call
I have an iPad, iPhone, and my daughter has a Sony e-reader. I was going to get an e-reader for myself, but decided to get an iPad because it does much more.
I LOVE my iPhone-- it does everything, including ebooks, but the print is pretty small. The iPad does ebooks, surfing, email, videos, Netflix, everything! I got the cheapo model that only gets wifi (not cellular Internet). The iPad is very impressive.
Brand new, iPads are pricey. But Apple Store sells refurbished ones and discount ones online. Hope that helps.
I'm with you on this. But at least I can say I GET the Mick Jagger reference in your intro. :)... that makes it all okay .. I'm following and appreciate the fact that it didn't take 5 minutes to open your page and there was no waiting for a bunch of moving objects to stop! whew.. I'm not sure I'm cut out for all that gadgetry.... keri
