Here are the questions for this week's Hodgepodge...thanks for playing along!
1. What would you do if you found a pot of gold? Let's pretend this pot of gold is worth exactly $1500 (which would actually be more like a cup of gold at current values). Anyway, let's also pretend you have to spend it as opposed to making a donation someplace. Now tell me what you would do with that cup pot of gold? Wow, the things going through my mind....I'd probably check out craigslist for the many items I want around the house--like a rug for my bedroom and an armoir for the den. Or I might call BathFitters and have them do something with my lovely harvest gold tub in the main bathroom. Then again, maybe I'll just have some laser hair removal and permanent makeup done!
2. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form? Not like I did when the kids were little or when the grandchildren lived nearby. Now it's just another day. :-(
3. Have you been bitten by the Spring Cleaning bug? What spring cleaning job most needs doing at your house? What spring cleaning job are you most dreading? With each passing year, that bug's bite gets easier to ignore. This year, he hasn't even reared his ugly head yet. We still have those awful storm windows and they desperately need cleaning. We've lived here almost 5 years and some of them have never been cleaned--and it's been at least 3 years for the rest. I just close the curtains.
4. lime-shamrock-sage-forest...your favorite shade of green? I've only lately become a fan of green. My mother loved it and almost every room of our house was green when I was growing up. Still not a fan of what my friend calls "slime green". I do like hunter and sage (sounds like a singing duo).
5. Thomas Jefferson once said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." So...do you believe in luck or do you believe we make our own luck? Since I am probably the unluckiest person in the world, I'll pass on this question.
6. Monday (3/14) was Pi Day. Get it? Pi =3.14. Those math types are so clever aren't they? Since I'm not one of them tell me what's your favorite piE (the edible kind). Apple pie--with chess being a close second.
7. That same date (3/14) happens to be the birthdate of the late physicist Albert Einstein. I bet he knew the value of Pi. So...what do you think is more important and or valuable in life... intelligence or common sense? Common sense. Then you can usually figure things out. There are too many people walking around who have been educated beyond their intelligence.
8. Insert your own random thought here. My 9-year-old granddaughter won first place in the county for a writing contest! Now on to state! Congratulations, Melody!

I agree with you on the spring cleaning. And we have those darn storm windows too. I've been working on them but I HATE cleaning them. Pecan pie here...no, lemon....no, coconut custard...no, cherry...LOL I do love pie!
I am playing along! I feel bad that you hate your luck! I am sending you tons of positive thoughts!!
I'm curious why you call yourself unlucky??
My mom loved green also - I can't remember what shade - or what color she called it - but I remember we moved into a new house and it had green carpet and she was a happy girl :-D
Congratulations to your granddaughter! Writing is a talent that will carry her far in life! It is also something that is not taught as often in the school system, unfortunately.
OH, windows are just the pits! Mine could use a cleaning too and we have to hire them professionally done due to the second story of our house and it is wayyyyyyy to high for us to get up there and way to dangerous.
Wishing you a happy day!
Boy do I hear you on #3. I just can't get real excited about cleaning anymore. The blinds in my craft room have been in dire need of dusting so I did the next best thing, I had hubby remove them and throw them away, (they were 11 years old and so I didn't feel too guilty about tossing them). I replaced them with some curtains I got at Target for half price, woo hoo!
Congrats to your granddaughter, I sense there may be a great author in your family someday. Watch out Stepanie Meyer.
Hugs are still coming your way!
Connie, as long as you're taking the blinds down anyway, just throw them in the tub with some hot soapy water. Let the shower run over them for a bit, turn them over and repeat. It works great!
Postive thoughts going your way!!
Congratulations on your granddaughter for her writing ability!!!!!
Congrats to your granddaughter! That is so awesome!
#1: so many decisions! Laser hair removal is a good one!
Darn I didn't even think of laser hair removal! Good one!
Congrats to your granddaughter-that's awesome! Love your answer to #1 : )
Wow, congratulations to your granddaughter.
I'll ask: what is chess pie?
I nominate you president of the window cleaning support group!! I will be a charter member.
We don't do anything on St.Patrick's Day but I always wish everyone a good day. I don't want the Spring cleaning bug in my house either! I like sage green the most. Congratulations to your granddaughter. Would love to see what she wrote!
I love green, but it has taken me a while to embrace yellow and brown b/c our house was a 70's yellow and brown time capsule growing up.
Permanent makeup ~ now that would be a great splurge, I'd go for that. I used to have my eyebrows and lashes tinted regularly but alas that was before kids, no more of that for me for a while.
Chess pie is basically a mixture of butter and sugar in a pie crust.
now i'm totally craving some choc chess pie!!!
congrats to melody!! that's so cool~!
